Abstract
1,219,988. Deflecting propulsive jets on aircraft. VEREINIGTE FLUGTECHNISCHE WERKE-FOKKER G.m.b.H. 15 May, 1968, No. 23080/68. Heading B7G. In a by-pass or a ducted fan jet propulsion engine 2, wherein the cold and hot streams are discharged respectively through controllable nozzles 3 and 5, shown in position for jet lift, and wherein means is provided for heating the cold jet to increase thrust for take-off, means is provided for shifting the so-heated jet aft to maintain uniform thrust moments about the engine C.G., shown as S. In Fig. 1 two sets of nozzles 3, 4 are connected by a duct 6 having a valve (not shown) which, when the jet is heated, diverts it from nozzles 3 to nozzles 4. In Fig. 2, the nozzle 7 is mounted on a cranked duct pivotally mounted at 8.
