Abstract
1,219,384. Flowable pasty organic detergents. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 7 Feb., 1969 [17 Feb., 1968], No. 6735/69. Heading C5D. A pasty organic detergent composition that is capable of being pumped and has a high content of organic detergent, e.g. 60%, is prepared by degassing an organic sulphuric acid semi-ester or organic sulphonic acid, subsequently neutralizing the semi-ester or acid with an alkali in a continuous flow mixer, withdrawing a smaller proportion of the mixture as finished product after the mixture has left the continuous flow mixer, and recycling the larger proportion of the mixture through a cooler and back into the continuous flow mixer. The ratio of withdrawn finished product to recycled product is within the range of from 1: 5 to 1: 30. Additives such as buffers, e.g. sodium citrate and preserving agents, may be incorporated into the organic detergent in the continuous flow mixer. The organic detergent may be the sulphuric acid semi-esters of (a) fatty alcohols having a chain length of 12 to 18 carbon atoms, (b) their 1-5 moles ethylene oxide condensation derivatives, (c) C12 to C18 fatty acid or fatty acid amide oxyethylation (1-5 moles) products; alkylaryl-sulphonic acids having up to 12 C. alkyl; olefin-sulphonates of C15 to C22; and mixtures thereof. The preparation of the paste is illustrated by reference to a flow sheet (not shown).
