Abstract
1,217,104. Welding by pressure; soldering. SIEMENS A.G. 25 March, 1969 [26 March, 1968], No. 15644/69. Heading B3R. An assembly comprises a piece of aluminium or aluminium alloy, a layer of electrically conductive material ultrasonically spot or roll seam welded thereto and a copper conductor soldered, screwed or clamped to the layer. A piece of aluminium 11 is ultrasonically seam welded to a layer of copper 12 between a roller sonotrode 13 and an anvil roller 14. Composite foil discs of copper and aluminium may be ultrasonically spot welded to the piece 11 instead. The layer may be of brass, gold, or silver, and the piece may be a bus-bar, contact carrier &c. In mass production a continuous electrically conductive layer may be ultrasonically seam welded to a strip of aluminium or aluminium alloy and the assembly fed to a device for attaching contacts and then to a shearing or stamping device.
