Abstract

1,215,551. Wood venvers. MIKROHOLZ MEISSNER & CO. K.G. 2 Feb., 1968, No. 5400/68. Heading B5L. [Also in Division B6] A wood surface which is to have a pattern, such as an artificial graining, provided on it has applied to it a heat-meltable film with the pattern printed on it and the film is subjected to heat and pressure so that it melts and penetrates the wood. The pattern in part remains at the wood surface and in part enters with the melted film into pores in the wood. Veneer 2, which has a flexible base 4, e.g. of paper or fabric, may have a film with a pattern on it and a silicone paper backing 3 pressed against it at a temperature high enough to melt the film, and is left with the pattern on it when backing 3 is removed.
