Abstract
1,213,941. Photographic processing apparatus. LOGETRONICS Inc. Jan.10, 1969 [June 4, 1968], No.1587/69. Heading G2A. [Also in Division G1] A photographic film processor has a scanner for monitoring the image density in the whole of the output film, and means for integrating the density and controlling replenishment of the processor chemicals in accordance with the integrated density. The film scanner comprises a block 17 having fibre optic bundles 30, with ends 30a fanned out into linear form and coupled to lamp 34 having a shutter 32 rotating at a speed dependent upon the speed of film transport to illuminate the bundles sequentially. Light passing through the film is conveyed to a photo-cell 46 by fibre optics 45. The fanned ends of the bundles may be replaced by solid light distributers, and scanning may be effected on the light receiving side of the film. Control circuit. The photo-cell 46 output is connected to a point 49 by a resistor network 47, 48 which may be arranged to supply a steady bias to allow for developer oxidation when the processor is quiescent. The total signal at 49 is integrated by an operational amplifier OA 1 and a capacitor C 1 selected in accordance with the film transport speed and at the end of each line scan, switches SW 1 , SW 2 magnetically synchronized with the scanner transfer the integrated signal to a further integrator (OA 1 and C 2 ). When the integrated signal on C 2 reaches a pre-set level relay 55 pulls in to actuate a stepping switch 58 and discharge C 2 . When switch 58 reaches position 60 relay 61 pulls in to reset switch 58 and energize a timer T and solenoid 71 to supply developer at a pre-set rate for a preset time. Supply of fixer may be similarly controlled.
