Abstract

1,213,727. Underground plastics pipe constructions. WESTERN PACKING & SUPPLY CO. 26 Jan., 1968, No. 4255/68. Heading F2P. Electrical conductors 12 are secured to plastics pipes 10 buried underground adjacent ends of the conductors being connected together so that electrical detecting means can be employed for locating the pipe from above ground. As shown, a strip of metal 12 is spirally wound around a pipe 10 and may be secured to the pipe by adhesive strips or, by strips of plastics welded, or fused, over the strip 12. Alternatively, the strip may be located between a pair of parallel spiral ridges formed integrally with the pipe and subsequently bent over the strip and sealed. A round or flat strip, coated with plastics, can be fused to the pipe, and the strip, or its plastics coating, may be printed, as desired. A linear wire may be embedded in the pipe wall during extending.
