Abstract

1,213,219. Filter element. MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES CO. 19 June, 1968, No. 29258/ 68. Heading B1D. A filter element comprises a stack of units of the form illustrated, which may be cut from a length of similar structure, each unit comprising a section of corrugated filtering sheet 1 with flat filtering sheets 2, 3 secured to opposite sides and extending inwards from opposite edges thereof, at which edges the passages formed between the corrugated sheet and respective flat sheets are closed. Sheets 2, 3 extend just over half way across the corrugated sheets, and sheets 2, 3 in adjacent units overlap and may be sealed together (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). Fig. 4 (not shown) illustrates a more elaborate unit comprising two corrugated sheets, separated by a full-width flat sheet (15) and having half-width flat sheets on their outer sides. The units are sealed to a common peripheral frame.
