Abstract
1,208,693. Vitamin B 12 and tetracyclines. ROHM & HAAS CO. 24 Jan., 1968 [31 Jan., 1967], No. 3803/68. Addition to 1,129,125. Headings C2A and C2V. Vitamin B 12 , tetracycline hydrochloride and oxytetracycline hydrochloride are isolated from an aqueous solution thereof by contacting an aqueous solution of one of these compounds with particles of a substantially non-ionogenic macroreticular cross-linked synthetic resin having a porosity of at least 10%, a specific surface area of at least 10 sq. m. per gram and which is not swollen by the medium, so that the compound is adsorbed on to the surface of the resin. A copolymer of divinyl benzene, styrene and ethylvinylbenzene is preferred. The compounds may be eluted from the resin with methanol. Other macroreticular resins are as in Specification 1,129,125.
