Abstract

1,208,109. Stencilling-apparatus. ALJABA Ltd. 16 Jan., 1968 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 3220/67. Heading B6C. Apparatus for imaging a rotary screen cylinder 12 to form a stencil comprises a roller 56 arranged to support the cylinder rotatably, a frame 35a adapted to support a flat screen matrix 35 tangentially with respect to and in contact with the cylinder 12, a squeegee 43, and means for moving the frame 35a and the squeegee 43 relatively whereby a blocking liquid is forced through the matrix and deposited in image formation on the cylinder 12. The liquid may be a suitable enamel, paint, resin or varnish and polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride and an epoxy resin are given as examples. The matrix screen is of nylon or metallic mesh. The matrix may be moved along guide tracks, Fig. 1 (not shown), by a motor (24) and a cable (27), the cylinder being rotated by friction and the squeegee being stationary. The squeegee may be rubber covered or of metal, rotatable or non-rotatable, and cylindrical or of blade formation. It may be moved axially or vertically with respect to a cross member 38. The pressure exerted by the squeegee may be selected by adjusting weights in a box 46. The roller 56 is supported by three adjusting rollers (59), Fig. 2 (not shown) carried by an adjustable cross-member 51. The matrix may be inverted to produce a cylinder carrying a reversed image for perfecting &c.
