Abstract

1,205,499. Stud and socket fastenings. HUTSONS Ltd. and A. C. LOUDON. 18 April, 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 3655/68. Heading E2B. A coupling device for joining a shackle linked to a cable or chain of a straddle sling to a corner block of a cargo container 22 comprises a one piece casting or stamping forming a boss 10, an arm 11 extending radially from the boss, the arm at its free end having a hole 13 for the reception of a shackle pin 14, a neck 17 projecting from the boss and two arms 18, 19 extending across the neck such that when the arms are inserted in an elongated slot 20 in a corner block and a load taken by the shackle the arm 11 pivots with the cable or chain and the arms 18, 19 rotate to lie across the slot 20 to secure the device to the container.
