Abstract
1296819 Laminates LENINGRADSKY INSTITUT TOCHNOI MEKHANIKI I OPTIKI 8 Sept 1970 42871/70 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions C1 C7 and G2] An optical mirror comprises a reflective coating 3, a glass layer 2 having a thickness of less than 6 mm., and a carrier base 1 of a refractory metal having a softening temperature at least 100‹ C. higher than the softening temperature of the glass. The glass may be fritted to the metal, when the glass and metal preferably have substantially equal thermal expansion coefficients. The metal may have blind holes, as shown, and lugs, e.g. 5 are provided to a tach the assembly to a support. The metal may be a Ti alloy, Be, or a steel, and the glass layer may contain (a) SiO 2 , B 2 O, Al 2 O 3 , As 2 O 3 , K 2 O and KHF 2 ; or (b) P 2 O 5 , Al 2 O 3 , ZnO, K 2 O and V 2 O 5 (two different compositions given). The glass layer may be produced by melting glass powder in vacuum in contact with the base, or heating a glass sheet in contact with the base.
