Abstract
1296435 Oxo process BP CHEMICALS Ltd 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 7308/70 Addition to 1263720 Heading C2C Aldehydes are produced by the hydroformylation of olefines with CO and H 2 at elevated temperatures in the presence of complex of a Group VIII metal other than Fe, Ni, Pd or Pt which contains two carbonyl ligands and a bidentate ligand co-ordinating through N and O, the free ligand containing an acidic OH group. Specified bidentate ligands are 8-hydroxyquinoline, quinaldic acid, α-picolinic acid, 4 - p tolyliminopentan - 2 - one, 4 - pentafluorophenyliminopentan - 2 - one and salicylaldoxime. Rhodium dicarbonyl complexes of each of the above ligands are prepared by reacting the free ligand with rhodium dicarbonyl propionate or rhodium dicarbonyl chloride dimer.
