Abstract
1294995 Vacuum insulated vessels; cryogenic containers BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 15 Dec 1970 [9 Jan 1970] 1216/70 Headings F4H F4P and F4U A vacuum insulated container, e.g. for storing liquid nitrogen, comprises a double walled vessel 12 with an evacuated space 14 between its walls and formed of two pieces of plastics material 28, 34 which are secured together by a vacuum tight joint 32 in the outer wall and one piece 34 of the material is a disc which forms the base portion of the outer wall and the other piece provides the whole inner wall and the remainder of the outer wall. The plastics material may be reinforced with glass fibre or the like or coated with metal, and superinsulation material 42 may be positioned within the evacuated space. A neck vessel 16 of similar construction may be permanently joined to the vessel as by a fluid-tight adhesive joint 40.
