Abstract

1293189 Photographic silver halide materials AGFA - GEVAERT 30 April 1971 [4 June 1970] 27048/70 Heading G2C Photographic materials having improved antistatic properties contain a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and an outer layer comprising a hydrophilic colloid containing particles of a solid, water-insoluble matting agent and a fluorinated surfactant, preferably of the formula:- R F -A-X where R F is partly or wholely flourinated hydrocarbon radical containing at least 3 flourine atoms, A is a direct linkage or a bivalent hydrocarbon goup or such a group interrupted by a hetero atom, a -COO-, amide or sulphonamide linkage, and X is a non-ionic polyoxyalkylene group, a -SO 3 M, -OSO 3 M, -COOM, -PO 4 M 2 , -PO 3 (OR<SP>3</SP>)M or -PO 2 (OR<SP>3</SP>)M group or a group -N<SP>+</SP>(R<SP>2</SP>) 2 Alk-COO or -N<SP>+</SP> (R<SP>2</SP>) 2 AlkSO 3 <SP>-</SP> wherein M is H, alkali-metal, ammonium or organic ammonium, R<SP>3</SP> is alkyl or the group R F , R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl of 1-5C and Alk is alkylene of 1-5C. The matting agent comprises various inorganic or organic particles such as polymethylmethacrylate particles.
