Abstract
1290505 Water soluble monoazo pyrazolone dyes FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 23 Oct 1969 [23 Oct 1968] 51999/69 Heading C4P The invention comprises water-soluble monoazo dyestuffs of the formula where W, Z and Z 1 are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, nitro, alkoxy or acylamino, X is alkyl, carboxy or alkyl carboxylate and Y is -SO 2 -CH 2 - CH 2 -Z<SP>1</SP> or -SO 2 -CH = CH 2 , where Z<SP>1</SP> is OH or an inorganic radical which can be split off by an alkaline agent, n is 1, 2 or 3, n 1 is 0, 1 or 2 and n 2 is 0 or 1, n 1 +n 2 being at least 1. Preferably Z<SP>1</SP> is halogen, or a thiosulphuric, phosphoric or sulphuric acid ester group. The dyes of Formulµ la and Ib, which give yellow shades on cellulosic fibres, may be prepared by diazotizing a suitable naphthylamine and coupling with a suitable pyrazolone derivative. Dyes in which Z<SP>1</SP> is OH may be reacted with a sulphating or phosphorylating agent to produce dyes in which Z<SP>1</SP> is the corresponding ester group. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,106,244.
