Abstract

1287670 Shaping candles H FALCK-MUUS 14 Dec 1970 [6 Jan 1970] 59391/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division C5] Candles are decorated by applying to the surface a dyestuff in a volatile solvent, locally heating the surface to evaporate the solvent and melt the candle, manually rotating the candle and moving it longitudinally in relation to the heat source so that the molten surface layer containing the dyestuff forms a pattern on the candle surface, allowing it to harden, and polishing it. The colour may be applied by brush, spray or immersion. The solvent may be turpentine. A spirit flame or wick burner can be used as heat source; with the latter the carbon black formed may be incorporated in the pattern as desired.
