1286807 1,1,1-Trichloroethane IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Sept 1969 [10 Oct 1968] 48124/68 Heading C2C 1,1,1-Trichloroethane is prepared by chlorination of 1,1-dichloroethane in a fluidized bed of microspheroidal silica at 80‹ to 250‹ C. Hydrogen chloride from the chlorination zone may be used to hydrochlorinate vinyl chloride to 1,1- dichloroethane which is then fed to the chlorination zone.
