Abstract
1285638 Spray producers ATLAS COPCO AB 26 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 50706/70 Heading B2F A spray pistol has a longitudinally bisected handle 11 consisting of two parts 19 and 21, one part 19 being fixed to the body of the gun 10, the other part 21 being a detachable female coupling member connected to a hose for supplying fluid to the spray gun, this member having a self-closing discharge valve 23 therein, which, when the female coupling member 21 is attached to the gun, is opened by a male coupling member 28, connected to the body of the gun 10, thus allowing fluid into the body of the gun. The female coupling member 21 is held to the gun by a releasable clip. As shown the male coupling member 28 is hollow and passes sealingly through the valve seat 22 of valve 23, this consisting of a set of sealing rings 26, liquid to be sprayed also passing through a filter 27 in the female coupling member. The portion 19 of the handle 11 fixed to the body 10 of the gun has a compressed air supply attached to it, a valve 12 being openable against the action of a spring by a member 13 which is moved by the trigger 14, this trigger also controlling a valve member 16 in the gun nozzle. This compressed air atomizes the liquid being sprayed and also controls the shape of the spray, an adjusting valve 17 controlling the supply of air from the latter purpose. The gun may be used to spray paint, the detachable female coupling member being interchangeable with other such members connected to paint supplies of differing colours.
