Abstract
1279864 Nuclear power plant RHEINISCHE BRAUNKOHLENWERKE AG 8 July 1969 [8 July 1968] 34465/69 Heading G6C In a high pressure helium cooled nuclear reactor power plant, the helium flows through a heat exchanger, of which the secondary fluid is lead which penetrates any leakage in the heat exchanger surface, to seal the helium flow circuit. The reactor, 9, is cooled by the helium gas flow, 1, through the heat exchanger, 13. Lead is introduced into the exchanger through the pipe, 14, from the storage vessel, 12. If a heat exchanger pipe fractures, the leak is sealed by a flow of liquid lead into the lower part of the helium circuit, the exchanger, 13, being positioned so that the lead pressure is greater than that of the helium. In a modification, the helium flows through the exchanger tubing which is immersed in the liquid lead.
