Abstract
1277620 Carbon composition and body thereof C CONRADTY 12 Dec 1969 [31 Jan 1969] 60668/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division H5] A solid, coreless arc furnace electrode of graphite or carbon has a titanium compound incorporated into the whole of the electrode, the titanium content of the finished electrode being not more than 20% by weight (preferably 0À5- 6% or specifically 3%), and the titanium either having beein introduced into the starting mixture used for the production of the electrode as titanium metal and/or titanium dioxide and/or as a compound of the general formula Ti(OR) 4 or Ti(NR 2 ) 4 , in which R is an alkyl radical with not more than 6 carbon atoms, e.g. a methyl or ethyl radical, or having been introduced into the finished electrode by impregnation with the latter compound.
