Abstract
1276340 Tobacco-smoke filters MITSUBISHI RAYON CO Ltd and MITSUBISHI ACETATE CO Ltd 14 Oct 1969 [19 Oct 1968] 50456/69 Heading A2C Tobacco-smoke filters are made from filter forming material containing 0.01 to 30% by weight of at least one of the ether ester compounds of saccharides represented by the general formulae: wherein the groups R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 each represents a monovalent organic radical or hydrogen, one of said groups being a polyalkylene glycol ether group and at least one of the remaining groups being a fatty acid ester group. Many suitable filter forming materials, saccharides, and ether and fatty acid ester forming groups are specified, those exemplified being: filter forming materials-cellulose acetate, polypropylene and viscose rayon fibre tows; polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, polystyrene and cellulose acetate in sponge form; cellulose powder and cellulose paper; saccharide compounds - sucrose monopalmitate polyethylene glycol ether (condensate containing 10 moles ethylene glycol), sucrose monostearate polyethylene glycol ether (10 moles) used mixed with sucrose dipalmitate, sucrose dipalmitate polypropylene glycol ether (8 moles) mixed with mineral oil, glucose diacetate polyethylene glycol ether (10 moles) alone and mixed with fructose monooleate polyethylene glycol ether (5 moles), and sucrose monoacetate polyethylene glycol ether (10 moles); all of the above being applied as aqueous emulsions.
