Abstract
1275870 Rubber composition; foundry moulds SULZER BROS Ltd 5 June 1970 [6 June 1969] 27334/70 Headings C3N and C3Q A coating material for foundry patterns and core boxes consists of 10-30%, preferably 21À5%, by weight chlorinated rubber of the general formula (C 10 H 12 Cl 8 ) n in which n is at least 1 and has a viscosity of 500-1500 centipoises at 20‹ C.; 5-15%, preferably 21À5%, by weight aluminate silicate ester of the general formula (C 2 H 5 O) 3 Si-O-Al(OC 2 H 5 ) 2 ; 0À5- 2À5%, preferably 1À5%, by weight polyester resin with a viscosity of 1000-4000 centipoises at 20‹ C. and including a catalyst therefor in an amount equal to 1-2% by weight of the polyester; 20-40% by weight inactive mineral fillers; and the remainder, preferably in an amount of 25À5% by weight, being thinners having a pH #7 and optionally a pigment. Suitable fillers are titanium dioxide in an amount 10% by weight and magnesium potassium aluminium silicate in an amount 30% by weight. Graphite has proved a suitable filler which also serves as a pigment. A suitable thinner is a mixture of xylene, toluene, ethyl acetate, amyl acetate, amyl alcohol and ethylene glycol.
