Abstract

1,273,715. Retractive switches. M. K. ELECTRIC Ltd. 16Feb., 1971, No. 4740/71. Heading H1N. A switch, wherein a biased rocking contact 35 is operable by a rocker 40 to interconnect fixed contacts 26 and 32, comprises an insulating casing 13 having three channels 16, 17, 18, formed therein, each capable of receiving a terminal device so that the terminal thereof is accessible for connection of conductors, two of such channels, 16 and 18, housing such terminal devices, each being connected to or incorporating an associated contact 26, 32, and an insulating closure member 20 being located in the third channel 17. As shown, the contact 32 is formed by the bent-up end of a strip 31 and provides a knife-edge pivot 34 for rocking contact 35 which is snapped into or out of engagement with contact 26 by a plunger 43 pivoted at 44 to the rocker 40, which is itself pivoted at 42 to the casing cover 12. Springs 44 load the plunger 43, while a spring 50 renders the rocker 40 retractive. The knive-edge 34 is provided with a silvered inlay material.
