Abstract
1,271,571. Basic monoazo dyes. SANDOZ Ltd. 15 July, 1969 [29 July, 1968], No. 35560/69. Heading C4P. The invention comprises basic monoazo dyes which are free from sulphonic acid groups of Formula I where R is optionally substituted alkyl or aryl, R 1 is methyl or ethyl, R 2 is hydrogen, halogen, or optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy, R 3 is hydrogen or optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy, A# is an anion, R 4 is -N-(-CH 2 .R 5 ) 2 or -N(R 6 )-CH 2 -CH(OH)-CH 2 X, the rings B and/or D may be further substituted, R 5 is -CH 2 -X, -CH(CH 3 )-X or -CH(OH)-CH 2 -X, R 6 is alkyl which may be substituted by one or two OH groups and/or one CN group and/or one optionally substituted aryl group and/or one alkoxy group, and X is halogen. The dyes of Formula I, which give blue shades on polyacrylonitrile, may be prepared by reacting a compound of Formula VII with a compound R 1 -A 1 , where A is a radical which may be split off to give an anion.
