Abstract

1,271,175. Sewing-machines. G. M. PFAFF A.G. 15 May, 1970 [2 July, 1969], No. 23648/70. Heading DIG. Top feed means for a sewing machine wherein a spring biassed top feed foot 35 is connected to a feeding drive eccentric 10 and a raising drive eccentric 11 and to a carrier 5 secured to a bar 3 of a presser foot 6 is characterised in that the top feed foot has pivoted thereto a linkage 12, 19, 20, 21 from the eccentric and is pivotally connected to the carrier 5 by links 23 while a lever 30 connected to the eccentric 11 by links 26, 25, 24 and rockably supported on the carrier 5 acts on a rotatable roller 32 mounted on the feed foot. The feed foot is acted on by a spring 41 through a ball 38 and the movement of the ball during feeding is limited by a surface 39. A channel 13 on setting bar 15 guides a block 14 pivotally mounted on arm 12 to produce the feed motion and the adjustable angle of the channel alters the feed length. A manual lever 50 is provided to raise the presser foot and the top feed foot.
