Abstract
1,270,370. Ignition systems. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Dec. 16, 1970 [Dec. 19, 1969], No. 59620/70. Heading F1B. An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises an ignition capacitor 16 chargeable by a charging impulse derived from an alternating current voltage induced in a charging winding 13 by a magnet system 11, a rectifier 14 being connected in series with this charging winding. The capacitor is dischargeable through the primary winding 18 of an ignition transformer 19 by means of the cathode to anode path of an electronic discharge switch 15 having a control electrode S, whilst the secondary winding 21 of the ignition transformer is connected with at least one sparking plug 22. There is connected to that part of the charging winding that is nearer the rectifier, a diode 23 which is reverse biased by that half cycle of the alternating current voltage from which the charging impulse is derived. The end of the charging winding opposite to that which is connected to the rectifier is connected to a control resistor 24 in series with the diode, whilst the common point between the control resistor and the charging winding is connected to the control electrode S of the electronic discharge switch and the common point between the diode and the control resistor is connected to the cathode of the electronic discharge switch.
