KONSTRUKTORSKY INSTITUT KHIMICHESKOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 9 Oct., 1970, No. 48106/70. Headings B1C and B1X. A polymerisation reactor has a housing 1 with a heat exchange jacket 2, inlet 3, outlet 4 and a stirrer comprising tubes 6 mounted on a pipe 6A coaxial with the hollow rotatable shaft 5 so that a heating or cooling medium can be passed through them, the tubes 6 being co-planar with the axis of rotation. As shown, the tubes 6 are at different distances from but parallel to the housing walls (see also Fig. 2, not shown) but they may be of zigzag conformation (see Figs. 3 and 4, not shown).
