Abstract

1,269,170. Packing gramophone records. DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON G.m.b.H. 29 July, 1970 [25 Sept., 1969], No. 36657/70. Heading B8C. A record 12, after final processing by an edgetrimmer 2 serving a plurality of press or injection moulding machines, is lifted from a disc 5 by means of a suction plate 13 on a lever 14 and dropped through a slot 15 in a work bench 1 into a record sleeve 16. The record sleeves 16 are lifted into a vertical position from a sleeve store 17 of convex curvature by a suction frame 18 and are held open by suction cups 19 on reciprocable rods 20. When the record is in the sleeve 16, the suction to frame 18 and cups 19 is cut off and the sleeve and record fall into a box 21. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the sleeves are held vertically in a sleeve store adjacent the packing position, are removed from the store by a reciprocable suction plate (26), are held open by a reciprocable suction frame (29) and slide down a shoot (30) into a container (31). In a further modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the sleeves, held vertically in a store adjacent the packing position, are removed by suction cups (34) on reciprocable rods (35), are opened by short brushes (37) on the sleeve store and by an auxiliary air jet (38), and fall vertically into a container (40). An identical arrangement for packing records into sleeves is located on the other side of the edge trimmer 2, an oscillating table 7 carrying a record on a disc 5 to the edge trimmer whilst it carries a record on a disc 6 away from it, and vice versa.
