Abstract
1,267,313. Coating apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK HENNECKE G.m.b.H. 7 May, 1970 [8 May, 1969], No. 22035/70. Heading B2L. [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] A process for levelling off a foam forming reaction mixture which is continuously applied to a travelling support comprises imparting vibrations to the liquid mixture perpendicularly of the support. Apparatus for levelling off the reaction mixture 4 on a support 3 comprises a body 5 vibratable perpendicularly to the support and located in the region where the reaction mixture is still liquid. A foil 7, fed between rollers 6, is applied between double conveyors 9 when the mixture has reacted to form a foam. The reagents are fed from separate storage tanks to a mixing head 1 and applied to the substrate 3 by a nozzle 2. In modifications the body 5 can be replaced by a doctor blade or roller which is vibrated and is either in contact with the liquid coating or presses the upper foil 7 on to the surface of the liquid coating.
