Abstract

1,266,982. Polyethylene terephthalate fibres. ALGEMENE KUNSTZIJDE UNIE N.V. 29 Aug., 1969 [31 Aug., 1968], No. 43214/69. Heading B5B. Fibres containing at least 90% of ethylene terephthalate units are drawn in two stages, the first over a heated pin at 70-100‹ C. to a draw ratio of 1: 3À8 to 1: 4À2, and the second in a steam box at 210-250‹ C. to a total draw ratio of 1:5À6 to 1:6À0. The fibres have a tenacity of at least 7À5 gpd., an elongation at break of at least 9%, an elongation under a load of 5 gpd. not more than 5 % and a shrinkage, measured on a sample held under tension of 0À05 gpd. for 4 minutes at 160‹ C. of not more than 4%.
