Abstract

1,266,883. Air filter. D. A. G. MARSHALL. 13 May, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 23056/68. Addition to 1,127,113. Heading B1T. [Also in Divisions B4 and B5] An air filter comprises a corrugated sheet of two-ply medium, one ply 20 being of glass fibre paper or foamed polyurethane and the other ply 22 being woven glass cloth impregnated with phenolic resin, and is made by pressing the two plies together while holding them in corrugated form and curing the resin to bond the plies and retain the shape. At the same time or subsequently an expanded metal grid 14 is dipped in or coated with polyethylene powder and heated to bond it to the corrugated sheet. Similarly foamed polyurethane layers 16, 18 are bonded to rods 24 and grid 14, and the whole assembly is sealed to steel or aluminium frame 26 by embedding in plastics 28. Plies 20 and 22 are bonded by pressing together at 150 to 160‹C for 16 to 20 minutes.
