Abstract
1,265,739. Incinerating closets. G. E. LAGSTROM. 12 Dec., 1969 [12 Dec., 1968], No. 60877/69. Heading E1C. An incinerating closet has an upper compartment with a seat from which a funnel 20 extends downwardly, and a lower compartment with an electrical heating element 21 and a removable ashbox 23, the two compartments being separated during combustion by a heat shield 33. The closet is cooled by natural draught, air spaces being formed between the outer walls and insulating panel 29, and also in or around the heat shield, so that air drawn in through a slot 25 in the ash-box, or under the walls, e.g. 11, or otherwise, is circulated around the closet before passing out through a flue outlet 26. The element 21 has a grate 22 thereover, and is arranged in a circuit with a junction box 41, a timer 46 and limit switches 47 and 48 operated by the cover 18 and shield 33 respectively, so that the cover has to be down and the shield in position before the element 21 can be switched on.
