Abstract
1,265,377. Testing cans for leaks. FRIED KRUPP G.m.b.H. May 2, 1969 [May 4, 1968], No.22532/69. Heading G1S. A can 2 to be tested is held by a clamping plate 1 against a seal 3 and a piston 6 is withdrawn to apply vacuum pressure to the can and also to a measuring instrument 8 separated by a diaphragm 9 from the atmosphere. The piston is then pushed back again to its initial position and the variation in pressure detected by a switch 10 to determine the tightness or otherwise of the can. In a development eight testing stations are provided around a wheel and are brought into operation successively.
