Abstract

1,263,014. Casting processes. BOHLER & CO. A.G. GEB. 18 Sept., 1970 [18 Sept., 1969], No. 44633/70. Heading B3F. Apparatus for the electroslag remelting of metals has a jacket which surrounds and thermally insulates the casting 13 emerging from a mould 20, the jacket being made up of a plurality of rings or tubular sections. These may be arranged telescopically or may merely rest on one another, more rings being added as the mould moves upwardly away from the bottom plate 23. The rings or tubular sections may consist of a steel jacket 50 filled with asbestos and may be provided with electrical heating elements 56.
