Abstract
1,261,486. Spray producers. AFRICAN EXPLOSIVES & CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 Nov., 1970 [21 Nov., 1969], No. 53113/ 70. Addition to 1,202,478. Heading B2F. [Also in Division E1] The apparatus of Parent Specification which apparatus is for use in the filling of a borehole with a slurried or a plastic mass, e.g. explosives or cement, is modified in that the nozzle structure of the apparatus now comprises a tube 1 sealed in the smaller opening of a truncated and outwardly and forwardly diverging conical mantle 4 made of a material of sufficient rigidity or so reinforced that the mantle cannot be inverted when inserted into a borehole and subjected on its inner, leading surface to back pressure from any mass discharged into the borehole from the tube. The tube may be a flexible hose or may be rigid and attached to a flexible hose. The mantle may, to facilitate insertion into a borehole, be folded downwardly and inwardly of the tube and have its forward end embraced by a jettisonable cap. The material of the mantle may be rigid or flexible and the mantle may have a skirt of a more flexible material than the material of the mantle. The central angle of the mantle cone is preferably less than 120‹ and the mouth of the mantle is less than twice the length of the mantle when the mantle is in use.
