Abstract
1,261,394. Tissue dispensers. KIMBERLYCLARK CORP. 31 March, 1969 [5 April, 1968], No. 16797/69. Heading B8C. A tissue dispensing package of the type in which the carton containing the tissues is slit open and bent back to expose the tissues in an inverted U-shaped configuration, an insert having a central aperture to allow withdrawal of the tissues is located between the tissues and the carton. By adjusting the tension in the insert and thus its pressure on the tissues individual withdrawal is facilitated. In one embodiment a tissue stack 34 is located within a carton 12, the upper wall 13 and side walls of which have a medial line of perforations 16 along which they may be split. Located above the stack is an H- shaped panel 23 having a central aperture 33 and legs 26-28 which are folded down between the sides of the stack and the carton. The lower wall of the carton has a score line about which it is folded, after the upper and side walls are split to the position shown in Fig. 5 and also means such as adhesive strips or tapes which retain the carton in its folded state. Alternatively the folded carton may be placed in a box. In a second embodiment the legs of the panel are fixed to the carton and the panel is made expansible, to take up its effective increase in length occurring when the carton is bent, by corrugation pleating or slitting. In a further embodiment the top wall of the carton may be provided with a withdrawal opening or a removable portion adapted to form such an opening.
