A curtain suspension device comprises a track 51 through which slide runners 53 and a drawcord 118 attached to a master runner 56 which is completely contained in the track and is detachably coupled to a runner 53 at the moveable end of a curtain. The curtain is preferably accordion pleated Figs. 1 to 3 (not shown) the depth of the pleats being maintained by flexible spacers (54) of one piece moulded plastics which connect adjacent runners. The master runner 56 which is of rectangular configuration has an internal wall 69 which together with the end-wall 67 forms a compartment within which rides the head of a runner 53. A pulley housing 55 which is situated at each end of the track 51 and engages the head of the runner at the fixed end of the curtain has a cord guide (55) and a pulley wheel (100). The drawcord, an end of which is friction locked about lands 117 in the master runner, passes horizontally as run 118 to the right hand housing where it loops about pulley (100) and returns as run 119 to the left hand housing. The cord 119 drops vertically through slot 113 to a desired operating level and returns through slot 111 to the master runner where the other end of the cord is friction locked about lands 122. The loop for operating the curtains may be moved to the right hand side of the track by catching the loop about the right pulley, slipping this loop through the cord slots 113 and 111 and pulling until the desired operating level is reached. The length of the loop on the left hand side automatically shortens until it is looped about the left hand pulley. The hem (130) Figs. 28 and 29 (not shown) of the curtain contains a flexible sleeve (131) in which a plurality of stiffeners (132), of metal may be placed in an endwise spaced relation.
