Abstract

1,261,091. Hospital patients gowns. T. BRADLEY. 22 April, 1969 [12 March, 1969], No. 20425/69. Heading A3V. A disposable patient's gown, for use during examination or surgery, is made from a single sheet of a material, such as paper, having stripes of adhesive, coated on both mating surfaces 62 and 64 or 86 and 90, or on only one of each pair of such surfaces and arranged so that, after initial adhesion, these edges may be pealed apart and re-attached. The adhesive is composed of an aqueous solution of latex, containing casein to reduce adherence, tackifying resins, cellulose thickeners and unspecified defoamers, wetting agents, antioxidants and preservatives. When used on both the mating surfaces, the stripes are treated with talc to reduce the adhesive/adhesive adherence or, alternatively, the effective adherence is reduced by applying the composition in patterns (Figs. 11 and 12, not shown), which are not exactly coincident on initial adhesion, so that on separating the surfaces, the patterns are only partially torn away, leaving unused parts of the adhesive for re-attachment.
