Abstract

1,260,743. Releasable fastenings; wall shuttering. R. BRANDSTATTER. 24 Jan., 1969 [26 Jan., 1968], No. 4079/69. Headings E1S and E2B. [Also in Division F2] A screw threaded clamp for fixing, spaced shuttering walls 4, 5 comprises a bolt 1 having two diametrically opposite sets of teeth forming a screw thread, the sets of teeth being separated by a pair of diametrically opposite, substantially flat longitudinal faces, a head piece 2 adapted to be screwed on one end of the bolt and a clamping nut 3 at the other end of the bolt, the head piece having a releasable locking device 16 engageable with at least one of the flat faces to prevent relative rotation of the bolt and the head piece. The head piece consists of a nut 10 provided with hand lugs or levers 20 for rotating the nut. The locking device 16 includes a slidable member 24 having a keyhole 25, 26 so that with the member 24 in a withdrawn position the bolt occupies the portion 25 and the nut 10 may be screwed onto the bolt to a position adjacent a bearer plate 9 which abuts transverse supports 8 and longitudinal supports 7. After rotating the bolt to align it with the portion 26, a head 31 is struck by a hammer to lock the bolt in the portion 26. The two positions of the member 24 are defined by notches 27, 28 and a spring loaded ball 30 position in the nut. The bearer plate 9 may be integral with the nut 10 and provided with a stop to prevent rotation of the nut and the bolt when the nut 3 is being tightened. Several different forms of the locking device such as a pin, an eccentric, a wedge, &c. are also described.
