Abstract
1,260,037. Sulpholane. INSTITUT KATALIZA SIBIRSKOGO OTDELENIA AN SSSR. 14 Aug., 1969, No. 40585/69. Heading C2C. Sulpholane is prepared by hydrogenating sulpholene at a temperature of from 10‹ to 40‹ C. in the presence of supported palladium oxide as catalyst. The hydrogenation is suitably effected in isopropanol or an isopropanol-sulpholane mixture at elevated pressure. The catalyst may be reactivated by oxidation at a temperature of up to 300‹ C.
