Abstract
1,258,579. Washing machines. PELLERIN MILNOR CORP. 22 April, 1970 [12 Aug., 1969], No. 19278/70. Heading D1A. To reduce the bulk of laundry by wetting it during loading a basket 10 which is rotatable about a horizontal axis in a housing 19 has at least one water distributor which in the loading position sprays water downwards and is supplied at one end with water from a pipe in the housing. As shown the basket has an axial partition 11 forming two compartments, two doors 8 at one end and, extending from the other end, two passageways 14, 15 with apertures 16 for spraying water onto laundry. The end of the distributors have apertures 20, 21 which line up with the ends of pipes 17, 18 with electro-magnetically controlled valves 22, 23. The control circuit of the valves includes a manual switch in series with a programmer control comprising a finger engaging a conducting drum 27 with an apertured paper roll 28. A manually and automatically controlled train valve may be provided for the housing.
