Abstract

1,257,348. Spray producers. J. R. GEIGY S.A. 25 March, 1969 [2 April, 1968; 15 Oct., 1968], No. 15588/69. Heading B2F. [Also in Division F2] In a plug valve assembly for dispensers of fluid products a hollow stem 7 forms part of the valve means, having a lower cylindrical portion 7a adapted to slide in a bore 12 in the valve means in sliding bearing engagement therewith, the stem further having a neck portion in the lower end of the cylindrical portion, which neck portion has a reduced diameter cylindrical portion, a tapered portion joining the upper end of the reduced diameter portion to the cylindrical stem portion and a downwardly and outwardly inclined or stepped seat portion joining the lower end of the reduced cylindrical portion to the bottom of the stem, the stem having downwardly extending passages from the hollow of the stem to the neck portion and opening out of the neck portion, which neck portion cooperates with a flexible gasket in the valve means having a thickness greater than the vertical dimension of the reduced diameter portion and which is deformed into engagement with the tapered and inclined or stepped seat portions in the raised position of the stem whereby to seal of the passages in the stem. The gasket may control release of propellant from a propellant cartridge 43 in an aerosol dispenser having a low pressure obturator 4 controlling the path of the product from container C. The openings from the hollow stem may be in the reduced diameter portion or tapered portion of the neck.
