Abstract
1,256,695. Cases. ANTLER Ltd. 25 March, 1969 [26 March, 1968], No. 14424/68. Heading B8P. The top and bottom shells 5, 6 of a suit-case are shaped where they meet such that they interlock when the shells are distorted to prevent separation. The handle 11 is secured in channel 9 and the hinges 20-24 are also located in the channel at the opposite side. The edge of the channel is bent to form a groove 16 running round the case, and a rim 8 normally passes over lip 15 and abuts at 19, but when the case is distorted by upward tension on the handle the rim 18 engages in groove 16 to prevent bursting open. Closure of the shells is ensured by abutting surfaces 13, 17. The case stands on ribs 26, one of which lies in slot 27 in the open position. The case shells may be moulded.
