Abstract
1,255,493. Laminates. RAYCHEM Ltd. 27 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 9367/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division C3] One surface of a body may be bonded to another surface of the same or a different body by applying to one or both surfaces a composition which comprises (a) one or more fluorine- and hydrogen-containing polymers, and (b) a monomer containing at least two polymerizable C=C bonds, and (c) one or more silicon-containing compounds having for each silicon atom, at least one hydroxyl group and at least one group that will react with component (a), which composition contains a free radical polymerization initiator, placing the surfaces together with the composition sandwiched between them, and curing the composition. In the examples, aluminium strips, glass plates, radiation crosslinked polyvinylidene fluoride, and vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymer strips, copper strips, stainless steel strips, and strips of polytetrafluoroethylene and fluorinated ethylene-propylene which have been etched with sodium / naphthalene / tetrahydrofuran are bonded.
