Abstract

1,254,360. Continuous heat treatment furnaces. F. W. ELHAUS. 5 Nov., 1969 [7 Nov., 1968], No. 54139/69. Heading F4B. A continuous heat treatment furnace for ingots, bars, rods etc. comprises semi-cylindrical refractory wall sections 4 about 25-60 mm. thick, removably seated on rails 6, separated by upper spacing members 7 and formed with burner ports 12. The burners 9 are disposed in blocks around the charge material, each block having its inlet pipe 13 with a control valve 14. The charge supports 2 are disposed on endless carriers 3. Waste gases passing through the gaps between wall sections caused by said spacing members 7 are drawn off by a fan through duct 16. Guides may be disposed in the upper region of the furnace chamber to support the bars on both sides or on one side only.
