[Also in Division B5] Meat or fruit filled pastries are continuously manufactured by continuously feeding, on an endless conveyer belt; a flat strip a of unfired paste, applying one or more elongated strips b of meat or fruit filling to the paste, covering the filling with paste, either by folding the paste strip a with a folding device k, or by applying a covering paste strip a<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 12), repetitively pressing and cutting out the desired shape of pastries from the sandwich thus formed in such manner that the edges of the pastries are sealed over a substantial area c on either side of the cutting lines prior to cutting, and finally separating and firing the pastries. Separate, parallel, pressing and cutting rollers l, n are used, driven in synchronism through chain gearing q, r, the rollers being mounted in bearings which are adjustable for height on supports t. Where it is desired to prick holes in the filled area of the pastries, two spikes u, Fig. 13, are provided within each space defining a pastry shape on the cutting roller n, and one or more stationary wires v are arranged in grooves of the cutting rollers to prevent the pastries adhering to the roller. Where the roller n presents the pattern shown in 11, three wires v are used, one for each of two rows of pastries and a central wire to prevent adherence of the central waste strip h of pastry. Circular pastries (Figs. 5 and 10, not shown) or rectangular pastries (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) may be made instead of the shapes shown.
