Abstract
1,246,442. Relining boiler furnaces. D. J. CHESHIRE, and A. J. GOODING. 8 Aug., 1968 [8 Aug., 1967], No. 36390/67. Addition to 1,085,527. Heading F4B. In relining a water tube boiler furnace housing Bailey plates according to the Specification 1,085,527, vertical I-section irons G, running parallel to the water tubes 1, are secured to horizontal tie-rods 5, and the layer 3 of insulating material is placed between the irons 6. The horizontal tie-rods may be the tie-rods which secured the Bailey plates, or may be welded to the water tubes, or secured to the tubes by lugs or cleats. Outer steel plates 4 are secured to the irons 6, and arrangements for sealing the upright to sloping corners of the boiler shell by over-lapping angle irons are described.
