[Also in Division C2] Catalysts for use in the conversion of alkylsubstituted aromatic compounds to nitriles comprise (1) vanadium oxide, (2) chromium oxide and (3) an oxide of manganese, lead, molybdenum, cobalt, boron or tin. If the catalyst contains an oxide of tin it may also contain one or more oxides of arsenic, phosphorus and antimony. Preferably the catalyst is supported on a carrier, e.g. alumina, silica or kaolin.
