Abstract

1,245,791. Jaw crushers. BARBER-GREENE CO. 13 Sept., 1968 [2 Oct., 1967], No. 43609/ 68. Heading B2A. To adjust the movable jaw and thus vary the grade of product a toggle-operated jaw crusher has extending across the housing 8, 9 and projecting into slots 24, Fig. 3, in side walls 9, a toggle beam 23 which may be clamped in an adjusted position, and power means to release the beam. The position of the beam is adjusted by a spacer block 36 and shims 37 and is moved by a double acting ram 38 at each end. The ram cylinder is secured to a brace 40 attached to the crusher frame and the piston is secured as at 44 in a toggle seat to the rearface of the toggle beam. The beam is clamped by a threaded stud 50, nut 51 and conical disc springs 52, supported by a base plate 53 so that the stud extends through an aperture 54, Fig. 4, and an elongate slot 55 into threaded engagement with a bore 56 in the beam 23. When the nut 51 is brought down to compress the springs the beam 23 is lifted and retained against an upper wall 57 of the slot 24. An hydraulic ram 62 is so arranged that when energised its piston contacts the end of the stud 50 compressing the springs and releasing the beam. The beam is then adjusted by the twoway ram 38. A mounting 53, 60 for the ram 62 moves with the beam during its adjustment, and clamps and rams are provided at each end of the beam. Double sets of springs may be used to produce higher clamping pressures, Fig. 5, (not shown). The shims are rectangular and provided with a ring-shaped hand-grip, Fig. 6, (not shown).
