Abstract

1,243,794. Engine starting system; rotary sliding - vane motors. OLIN CORP. Aug.13, 1968 [Aug.22, 1967], No.38635/68. Headings F1F and F1K. An engine starting system comprises a starter assembly 42 including a vane motor having an inlet and a drive mechanism which when actuated by the vane motor drives the engine to be started, an air reservoir 2 for storing compressed air, an air conduit 16 connecting the air reservoir to the inlet of the vane motor, an air valve 14 in the air conduit, a cartridge receiving chamber 22 to receive a gas generating cartridge, breech means 26 closing the cartridge receiving chamber, a cartridge firing mechanism and a gas conduit 36 connecting the cartridge receiving chamber to the inlet of the vane motor. The motor vane members may be made of a polyamide of the type manufactured under the Trade Mark "Vespel" and which contains about 15 per cent graphite. A lubricator 46 may be actuated by the compressed air or hot gases. Specifications 1,243,795 and 1,243,796 are referred to.
